About Polaroiders Selction #01 Naked Women
The Genesis by Alan Marcheselli & Carmen Palermo
Education and production; it is hard to go past these two notions. Education shapes production. The amusing part is to join two different educations to obtain a collective production, a book that grasps the spirit of the time in such an abused sector like the female nude.
So, while we were selecting together the 50 authors to propose in the book, our attention did not linger only on composition, color/black & white output, and message, but also on the different feelings that lead to the appreciation of an image regardless of one’s education.
After seven years of artistic collaboration, it is always a discovery to see how an image is perceived by each of us in a subjective form until it gets appreciated or, even worse, it leaves no trace at all. The purpose is exactly this: to select what leaves a sign, be it a caress or a slap, a trace that even after many years, past the emotion of the first reading, will drive the readers of this book to reopen it and savor it again, to return to that sign, that feeling.
Polaroiders Selection #01: Naked Women
Polaroiders Selection #01 is a book that deals with a controversial topic: the female nude.
A beautiful body doesn’t make automatically a pretty picture; a nude has to be told, both if it’s elegant or titillating, it can not be just like shooting flesh.
This volume is introduced by HAN BOERSMA, a dutch art dealer specialized in nude photography, and sees the female body through the lens of 50 Polaroiders coming from all over Italy, involving professional models, life partners or just friends who posed on different sets with curiosity and desire for expression .
This selection, made by the staff of Polaroiders, tried to summarize coherently a photographic world in constant expansion, both technically and emotionally, where the pursuit of light and spaces reveals the different facets that characterize each photographer approaching a naked body.

Call me a Polaroider.
Some years ago – it doesn’t matter how many – having too few or too many pixels at hand and nothing of special interest in the CCD or CMOS sensors, I thought about devoting myself to integral photography and seeing the instant part of the world.
To me, it is a way to shoo the blues and control my bloodstream pressure.
Every time I realize that I am pursing my lips in a surly grimace; every time that a damp and rainy May descends in my soul; every time I realize that I inadvertently stop before every funeral parlor and follow every hearse I meet along the road; and, most of all, every time a bad mood grows so strong in me that I need a robust moral principle to prevent me from going out in the street and methodically throw my hat on the ground before the people’s feet... then, I decide that it’s time to start shooting a.s.a.p.
This is my surrogate of a gun and a bullet.
With a philosophical beau geste, Cato hurled himself on the sword: me, hush-hush, I begin shooting polaroids.
There’s nothing surprising in it.
If they only knew, almost everybody have, sooner or later, each in their own way, more or less the same feelings that I have for photography.
I'm a self-taught photographer. I love to experiment with every kind of medium allowing me to take pictures (from digital to anologic, toycameras and especially polaroid) . I love the contamination between the various arts and more I believe in collaboration between artists.
With the photographer Alan Marcheselli, we founded in 2010 the italian network www.polaroiders.it. and in 2011 The first Instant Italian Festival ISO600. Furthermore I curate and edit photographic books, I lead workshop on creative technique with Impossible film in Italy and Europe.
www.polaroiders.it The social network dedicated to instant photography was founded on June 21, 2010 by Alan Marcheselli and Carmen Palermo, in order to provide a “home” to all professionals, neophites and amateurs of the Italian instant photography.
As at today, it counts more than 2,400 registered members and over 31,000 instant photos loaded.
Every day brings new members, new photos are uploaded, and the site is visited by over 100,000 Italian contacts and 30,000 international contacts.
Contacts via its blog, its youtube channel, and its profiles on the various social networks are as many.
www.polaroiders.it hosts passionate neophites, professionals and well-known artists who discuss and are proactively involved with a portfolio reading, the monthly publication of an article on an online and paper magazine of the sector (www.artabout.it), the internal contests, and, even more in concrete, with events and exhibitions proposed by the site all over Italy.
As of October 2011, it is the group promoter of ISO600: the first festival of instant photography in Italy.
